Photographer, writer and artist Roland Hagenberg grew up in Vienna, Austria. After various stints in Berlin and New York in the 1980s (where his photo series of Basquiat in his studio originated), he now lives in Tokyo. His photos, essays, travel reports and interviews have been published in numerous international publications, such as Vogue, Architectural Digest and Wallpaper. Roland initiated “Raiding Project” where he builds experimental guesthouses together with Japanese architects at Franz Liszt’s birthplace in Austria.
